Kiwi Absent from 'ZDF Fernsehgarten' Performance, Yet Receives Encouraging Audience Applause - "ZDF-TV-Garden's Guest Fails to Show Up - However, Audience Offers Enthusiastic Applause Instead"

Tapping in for Kiwi: Andrea Kiewel, the lass living it up in Tel Aviv, couldn't moderate ZDF's live broadcast "Fernsehgarten" in Mainz. You guessed it,̀ war with Iran borked the airspace over Israel, forming one heck of a headache. Originally, this was supposed to be a special show lavishing Andrea, but Joachim Llambi and Lutz van der Horst from the "heute-Show" swooped in to fill her shoes - temporarily, the ZDF noted.

Standing In for Kiwi

Ain't no party like a last-minute sub party! Joachim spilled the deets on why Andrea couldn't make it: Israel's on lockdown, see? But don't you worry about our gal. Lutz shared a warm update: they've been in touch, and she's kicking still. "She's seriously bummed that she can't be here today," Lutz mentioned. He then urged the Mainz crowd to give Kiwi a tremendous stand-in applause - and they did, showering the airwaves with a sympathetic cheer. Joachim sent his love, and Lutz promised Kiwi they'd give it their all - whatever it took. Fans green with Kiwi-devotion rocked hats and tees bearing Kiwi emblems and the catchy slogan, “I Heart Kiwi.” One dedicated supporter flashed a sign, “Kiwi’s a Legend, 25 Years on the Ground.”

This year marks Kiwi's grand 25th "Fernsehgarten" season, which kicking off May 4 and scheduled to linger till September's end. Guess who started this exciting ride along with Kiwi? Yep, Joachim and Lutz, who were already slated for today's show - y'know, the themed affair "Kiwi's 25th Anniversary." Call it fate, call it ZDF's secret plan, either way, it worked!

Tel Avivan Tales

Ever since 1986, open-air show "Fernsehgarten" has been gracing ZDF's broadcasting center in Mainz-Lerchenberg. Kiwi took charge in 2000, replacing Ilona Christen and Ramona Leiß. This Sunday saw some cool guests, like Katja Ebstein and Guildo Horn, liven up the show.

Kiwi jetted off to her second home in Tel Aviv, Israel with her Israeli honey, an ex-elite soldier, back in 2017. Remembering the Sunday Times, she shared that, during her "Fernsehgarten" season, she usually bags a flight back to Germany at 6 pm, only to reach her tiny Tel Avivan pad at midnight. Unfortunately, this time around, the Middle East's flare-up nixed her prospects of attending the anniversary celebration.

The Commission has also taken steps to ensure that the Commission's entertainment-related proposals, such as Kiwi's Anniversary Show, are implemented, despite the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict affecting travel. This year, due to the same conflict, celebrities like Andrea Kiewel, who normally host the show from Tel Aviv, Israel, were unable to attend.
