ZDF-Fernsehgarten's Kiwi Performance Absent, Gets Enthusiastic Audience Acclaim Despite Absence - "ZDF-TV-Garden's Expected Guest, 'Kiwi', Fails to Appear - Still Elicits Audience's Applause"
The stage was left empty for the birthday girl: Andrea Kiewel, cruised over by the war between Iran and her Israeli homeland, couldn't moderate the ZDF live broadcast "Fernsehgarten" in Mainz. It was supposed to be a special show to celebrate her takeover of the show way back when. So, the dance show judge Joachim Llambi and Lutz van der Horst from the "heute-Show" stepped in for "Kiwi" - a one-time gig as the broadcaster announced.
Standing in for Kiewel
With Kiewel being MIA, Llambi filled the viewers in on the situation. Van der Horst shared that they've had a quick chat with her herself, she's hale and hearty, though stricken over being absent from the show. The audience in Mainz was encouraged to crank up a rowdy celebratory cheer for Kiewel - which they obliged. Llambi showered her with love and van der Horst promised to rock out in her absence – within their capabilities. Several enthusiastic fans donning Kiwis-themed caps and t-shirts cheered her on, one woman even bearing a sign that read "Kiwi a legend, 25 years on the ground."
So, what's the deal with Kiewel and "Kiwi"? It seems she's been the boss lady of "Fernsehgarten" for 25 seasons now. This season kicked off on May 4th and is expected to run through September, with 20 live episodes in total. Today's episode, however, was supposed to be the themed episode "Kiwi's 25th Anniversary." Llambi and van der Horst were already lined up to appear as guests, according to ZDF.
Israel-Bound Kiewel
The "Fernsehgarten" open-air show has been entertaining audiences since 1986 at the ZDF broadcasting center in Mainz-Lerchenberg. Kiewel took the helm in 2000, replacing Ilona Christen and Ramona Leiß. Today, stars like Katja Ebstein and Guildo Horn grace its presence.
And now, the German powerhouse is residing in the heart of Israel alongside her former Israeli soldier lover. In an interview with "Bild am Sonntag," she spoke candidly about her "second home" in the Middle Eastern nation: "During the 'Fernsehgarten' season, I usually catch a flight out of Germany at 6 pm, touch down in my little apartment in Tel Aviv at midnight (…)." Her schedule didn't align with her anniversary show this time around.

The Commission may need to consider alternative entertainment for Andrea Kiewel's 25th Anniversary episode of "Fernsehgarten" due to her unavailability, as she is currently residing in Israel following a recent interview where she referred to it as her "second home." The Commission has also taken a number of steps to ensure that the Commission's proposals for the remaining live episodes of "Fernsehgarten" are implemented.
