ZDF Takes the Reins for German TV Prize Gala on September 10th!

ZDF airing television awards event currently - ZDF is hosting the Television Awards Ceremony tonight.

Get ready, folks! The ZDF is bringing you this year's star-studded German TV Prize Gala on September 10th, starting at 8:15 PM. That's right, Cologne is where it's at!

Here's a twist: For the first time, MagentaTV, part of Deutsche Telekom, is taking the lead and holding overall responsibility for the event. You know MagentaTV, a mix of traditional linear TV with streaming services and exclusive content. They've teamed up with the ZDF for this year's German TV Prize.

The host for the German TV Prize shifts each year. Last year, you may recall, it was the ARD's time in the spotlight. While the ZDF last showcased it in 2022. The award is a collaborative effort by ARD, RTL, Sat.1, ZDF, and Deutsche Telekom. Did you know that streaming giants like Disney+, Netflix, and Prime Video are involved as partners too?

So, who decides the winners? A jury of experts, of course! This year's panel includes Laura Karasek (moderator), Stephan Lamby (journalist), Collien Ulmen-Fernandes, and Valerie Niehaus (actresses).

As in the past, the organizers plan to spread the award ceremony across two nights to keep things manageable. There's also a "Night of Creatives" the day before, celebrating noteworthy figures from the TV industry in a more intimate setting.

Oh, and by the way, Deutsche Telekom's involvement goes beyond TV prizes. They've got a history of broadcasting sports events through MagentaTV and MagentaSport[1]. But when it comes to the German TV Prize 2023, things might be a little more... well, TV-focused. Stay tuned!
