Zac Efron's singing abilities within the "High School Musical" film were addressed by the movie's director in response to persistent rumors.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, director Kenny Ortega shed some light on the long-standing speculation surrounding Zac Efron's singing voice in the High School Musical film series.

The series, well-known for its musical numbers, involved the actors singing themselves. However, there have been whispers that Efron, who played the lead character Troy Bolton, did not lend his voice to the films.

Ortega confirmed that Efron's singing voice is indeed present in the films, but his vocals were mixed with those of actor Drew Seeley. This was particularly true for the first High School Musical film, where Efron's vocals were strengthened by Seeley's to better match the original compositions.

Ortega clarified that Efron sang everything for the films, but parts were dubbed to enhance the vocal strength. For the second and third movies in the franchise, the songs were tailored specifically for Efron's vocal range, and he sang fully himself.

Interestingly, the songs in the High School Musical films were initially recorded by Seeley before Efron was cast as Troy Bolton. This means that parts of Efron's singing in the films are a combination of his own and Seeley's voices.

The High School Musical films thus feature a unique blend of the singing talents of both Zac Efron and Drew Seeley, with Seeley's vocals used in addition to Efron's to create the final soundtrack.
