Yury Kharchenko: Exploring Jewish Heritage & Anti-Semitism
Join us on October 6, 2025, for an insightful talk by Yury Kharchenko, a renowned painter who explores his Jewish heritage and anti-Semitic violence in his art. The event, moderated by Jan Feddersen, will take place at our website Kantine with free admission and livestreaming. Kharchenko, who has lived and worked in Berlin for 16 years, will share his experiences and views on anti-Semitism.
Born in Moscow and raised in the Rhineland after his family emigrated to Germany, Kharchenko's art delves into his Jewish history and the anti-Semitic violence that has marked it, particularly following the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. His works, which have been exhibited worldwide, are part of prestigious collections such as the Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and the Felix-Nussbaum-House in Osnabrück.
Following the talk, Kharchenko will curate an exhibition 'Bad Good Jews' in Berlin from November 13 to 28, 2025, in collaboration with Aljoscha Samjatin. The exhibition, held at the former Nazi bunker, will feature works by Kharchenko and Samjatin, exploring themes of Jewish identity and the impact of anti-Semitism.
