Yulia Galysheva Honored with Kazakhstan's Order of Kurmet for Historic Skiing Career
Kazakh freestyle skier Yulia Galysheva has been awarded the Order of Kurmet, one of her country's highest honours. The recognition follows a career filled with historic firsts and top-level achievements in winter sports. Born in Ust-Kamenogorsk in 1992, she has become a trailblazer for Kazakh athletics on the world stage. Galysheva made history as the first and only Kazakh athlete to win an Olympic medal in freestyle skiing. She also stands alone as the nation's only senior Freestyle Skiing World Champion. Her success spans multiple competitions, including three gold medals at the Asian Winter Games and two at the Junior World Championships.
On the World Cup circuit, she has claimed five victories and ten silver medals. Her dominance extended to the Universiade, where she secured three championship titles.
