Youth's Staggering Transition from High School Coach to Slaughterhouse Worker, Brink of Professional Success

Robert Riggins, the man behind Baseballtheory.com, has made a remarkable transition from a butcher's shop to the coaching staff of the Milwaukee Brewers.

After an impressive high school baseball career, Riggins continued his baseball journey at Eastern New Mexico University. However, his dreams of a professional playing career were cut short when he discovered a heart condition during his freshman year.

Instead, Riggins found his calling in coaching. He coached at five different high schools in New Mexico, including Clovis High School, where he was a pitcher in 2004. His dedication to the sport did not go unnoticed, and he was offered a job as an assistant hitting coach at the Brewers' spring training facility in 2020.

However, COVID-19 had other plans. Riggins had to put his dreams on hold and move in with his wife's parents in Amarillo, Texas, where he worked as a supermarket butcher during the first year of the pandemic.

Riggins' perseverance paid off when the Milwaukee Brewers read his research on Twitter and offered him a position. The organization in the Dominican Republic even refers to him as "Carnicero" (Butcher).

Despite the setbacks, Riggins' ultimate goal remains the same: to become a Division I college head coach. He continues to work towards this dream, leveraging his unique background in both playing and coaching, as well as his extensive research on hitting physics and baseball bat attack angles.

Riggins' journey is a testament to the power of determination and the unpredictable nature of life. From humble beginnings as a high school player to coaching in the prestigious Dominican Summer League and now with the Milwaukee Brewers, Riggins' story is one of resilience and passion for the game of baseball.

As a result of his coaching prowess at high schools in New Mexico, Robert Riggins, now with the Milwaukee Brewers, was offered a role as an assistant hitting coach at the Brewers' spring training facility in 2020. Remarkably, Riggins, who once worked as a butcher, has managed to transition from the butcher's shop to the coaching staff of the MLB, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the sport of baseball.
