Youth Soccer Team Shift: Tim Danneberg Assumes Head Coaching Role for U19 Squad; Frithjof Hansen Maintains Dual Position as Co-Coach for Professionals
VfL Osnabrück Shakes Up Coaching Roles During Winter Break
In an effort to strengthen the connection between the professional team and the youth area, VfL Osnabrück has made some key decisions during the winter break. Frithjof Hansen will continue as assistant coach under head coach Marco Antwerpen for the pros, while Tim Danneberg steps up as U19 head coach, a role previously held by Hansen.
Tim Danneberg kicked off his coaching career shortly after retiring from his playing career in the summer of 2019. Since then, he's been working diligently as an assistant coach within the professional team's license area, serving under several head coaches, including Daniel Thioune and the most recent Pit Reimers. After the latest personnel shuffle, the 38-year-old will lead the U19 team until the summer. Rafael Agacinski will stay on as assistant coach and video analyst.
According to Alexander Ukrow, Director of Youth Football, "Tim brings extensive experience as a professional player and assistant coach. The U19 players and the entire performance center will benefit from his wisdom. At the same time, we want to assist Tim in his journey as a head coach and bolster the connection between professionals and youth."
On his new role, Tim Danneberg shared, "My discussions with Michael Welling and Alexander Ukrow revealed respect and openness. I'm excited to help develop the U19 players to the best of my ability, preparing them for the senior team, all while continuing my growth as a head coach."
Frithjof Hansen, who took charge of the U19 team at the start of the year, remains within the professional team's coaching staff. Working alongside Marco Antwerpen, Hansen has already made valuable contributions to earning crucial points in the 3rd league's survival fight in the first two games. Hansen said, "My collaboration with Marco Antwerpen is seamless. I'm delighted to continue being part of the team and to deepen the exchange between youth and professionals."
These moves by VfL Osnabrück underscore a focus on a tight bond between the professional team and the youth area and emphasize continuity on important coaching positions.

They often begin in lower-level positions, such as assistant coaches or youth team coaches, and rise through the ranks based on their success and experience. Advancements to head coaching positions, particularly in youth teams like the U19, come after proving themselves in lower roles or through a consistent record of nurturing young players. For the latest and most accurate information about Tim Danneberg's career, it's recommended to check official announcements from VfL Osnabrück or reliable sports news sources.
