Youth Group Removes Video by Jette Nietzard, Originating from Israel, on their Platform

In the latest heatwave sweeping the Greens, Jette Nietzard is at the epicenter once more - this time due to her take on Israel. The spark? A video uploaded by the Greens Youth chief on a social media platform. Former Green MP and current President of the German-Israeli Society, Volker Beck, accuses Nietzard of demonizing Israel in the video and belittling the victims of Hamas.

The key issue lies in a statement by Nietzard, which Beck calls out on social media with screenshots: The chairwoman of the Greens Youth speaks in the video about how "over 50,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis have died in military operations since October 7, 2023."

Politics Drawing a Line: Klöckner Slams NietzardOctober 7, 2023, marked a brutal day in history. Instead of state forces, this time around it was Palestinian terrorists led by Hamas who stormed Israeli territories and took the lives of nearly 1,200 Israelis. The terrorists besieged innocent civilians, committing acts of brutal violence that included sexual assaults, rapes, and kidnappings. It was the largest mass killing of Jews since the Holocaust.

Falsely Minimizing Carnage, According to Beck

According to Beck, Nietzard minimizes this terrorist attack with her statements: "Now, the victims of Hamas are becoming victims of 'military operations' for Jette Nietzard and the Greens Youth. Israel is demonized, and Hamas is trivialized, and that's not acceptable," the politician explains on social media.

The video was deleted by Greens Youth after Beck's criticism, only to be re-uploaded without the questionable passage. "I haven't found an apology for making a mockery of the victims of October 7, 2023," Beck adds further.

October 7 was a Cowardly Terrorist Attack, Says Nietzard

Facing criticism, the Greens Youth issued an apology via Instagram on Friday afternoon. The youth organization published a post in which Nietzard clarifies her mistake: "Yesterday, I uploaded a video about a sensitive subject that deeply affects our entire association. And I made a mistake that I want to apologize for openly and honestly. Especially to all Jewish women and men worldwide and in Germany."

Regarding the specific accusation, Nietzard stated: "October 7 was not a military operation. Instead, it was a cowardly terrorist attack in which 1,200 innocent people perished. Women were raped, children were murdered, and hundreds were abducted. Reducing such an act as a military operation was never my intention. I aimed to understand and address the widespread, global consequences of October 7 for Jews around the world. However, I'm sorry that I failed to convey the intended message."

"Not Green Politics," Says Brantner

Nietzard has caught trouble with the Green Party leadership time and again, most recently due to a photo with an "ACAB" sweater and a cap that reading "Eat the Rich." ACAB stands for "All Cops are Bastards," implying that all cops are scum, a view common among left-wing extremist circles.

The Green Party faction as well as key figures like co-chair Franziska Brantner, Baden-Württemberg Minister President Winfried Kretschmann, and former Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir have all expressed concern about Nietzard's views.

In an interview with the "Spiegel," Beck confirmed that he had demanded party disciplinary measures against Nietzard following her controversial photo and her rejection of an apology. "Step down, resign, and just apologize," he demanded of the embattled co-chair, hinting at the possibility of expulsion.

"More Sweaters Await," Says Nietzard

In a "Stern" interview, Nietzard admitted to being surprised by the outrage over her ACAB sweater. However, she stands by her criticism: "Not every individual police officer is a bastard. Yet, many people who aren't white experience fear at the sight of a police car. Not even every tenth woman who experiences sexual violence reports it due to her fear of not being believed. These people live in fear of a system that supposedly protects them. We cannot accept that."

Early Start Felix Banaszak on ntv Early Start: Green Party Chair Criticizes Youth Chair: "Not the First Time"Nietzard remains unreceptive to the calls for resignation, exit, and apologies: "No, I find an apology excessive." Instead, she prepares the Green leadership for more heated debates: "I am elected until October and have a youth association to lead until then. I will do that. I will certainly make headlines again in the next half year. I still have a few more sweaters in the wardrobe, so you can look forward to which messages we will still discuss."

Update at 17:21: We have added Nietzard's apology on Instagram.
