Straight-talking Guide to the Cuneo Mountain Festival: 2025 Edition
Embrace the Alpine spirit with the third installation of the Cuneo Mountain Festival! Kicking off Thursday and running through Sunday, this year's extravaganza will gather around a hundred young souls from Piedmont, Trentino, Lombardy, Tuscany, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Austria, and Germany. With a shared passion for life in the highlands, these participants will dive headfirst into a whirlwind of workshops, labs, and shows designed to tackle the obstacles that mountain living presents.
Fueled by Passion, Driven by Purpose
The event's central focus is on fostering connections between like-minded individuals who seek to work and live in the mountains. Over four dozen interactive sessions will be scattered throughout the city, bringing together participants to discuss everything from environmental sustainability to cultural preservation. They'll nestle at the Certosa di Pesio, immersing themselves in a unique "metropolitan mountain" experience – a nod to Cuneo's ongoing commitment to a more holistic approach to mountain living.
Don't let the events be limited to the young guns; they're the inspiration for a broader schedule of activities aimed at all ages. As Sara Tomatis, the assessor to the Metropolis of the Municipality of Cuneo, puts it: "In 2024, when we received the title of Alpine City, the theme of young people became urgent for the 2025 festival edition. That's why we made a bet to bring a hundred young people aged 18 to 30 to Cuneo—the response was staggering, both in terms of quantity and the quality of proposals."
A Forum for Sharing Ideas and Visions
On Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., young festival-goers will gather in the Municipal Hall for a conference titled "Alpine Half-moon: metropolitan and mountain dynamics." Here, they'll present their insights and visions for the mountains, which will also be the basis for the Alpine Half-moon study curated by the Interdepartmental Center Full. Future Urban Legacy Lab.
The study, conducted by the Politecnico di Torino and featuring a participatory listening campaign, offers a glimpse into the future metropolitan mountain development of the province of Cuneo. It represents the conclusion of a journey that began with the informal pact of the Alpine Half-moon signed by the mayors of Cuneo, Saluzzo, and Mondovì in May 2023.
Architectural Discussions for an Eco-friendly Future
Architects, engineers, and surveyors can join a discursive dialogue on the ecologically-aware visions that bridge city and mountain life during the "Voices. Dialogues of Alpine Architecture" conference, to be held at the Michele Ferrero room of Confindustria Cuneo.
The Alpine Village, a showcase for those who dedicate their lives to enhancing mountain regions, will pop up on via Roma from Saturday at 2 p.m. to Sunday at 6 p.m. Listen as Parks, Ecomuseums, GALs, category associations, and other actors share their stories, dynamic and insightful discussions ensue, and climbing novices take to the wall in the courtyard of the municipality.
Last year's festival featured hot air balloon rides, courtesy of John Aimo and Milano Mongolfiere, weather permitting. As the Cuneo Montagna Festival grows, so does the synergy between organizations working to create a harmonious mountain community where diverse user groups can thrive. The 2025 edition promises to be a unique experience ultimately focusing on sharing meaningful connections and visions for the future of the Alps.
- Here's a sports-betting prediction: The Cuneo Montagna Festival, with its focus on mountain living and sustainable development, might soon explore the potential of sports-betting regulations in mountain communities, particularly for winter sports, considering the increasing popularity of events like the Alpine Half-moon and the Alpine Village.
- In the spirit of knowledge sharing, a report titled 'The Intersection of Sports and Sports-Betting in the Alpine Community: The Cuneo Montagna Festival Case Study' could be presented during the 2026 edition of the festival, discussing the impact of sports and sports-betting on the festival and the opportunities for revenue generation while keeping in line with the festival's environmental and cultural focus.
