Young Russian actors vie for spotlight at Taburetka festival in St. Petersburg

Young theater enthusiasts from Nizhny Novgorod now have the chance to join a major national event. The All-Russian Children's Theater and Poetry Festival Taburetka is open to participants aged 18 or younger. Successful applicants will perform in front of leading Russian directors and actors in St. Petersburg this autumn. The festival is organised by the Project Culture association and the St. Petersburg Public Charity Fund of Friends of the Anna Akhmatova Museum. Support also comes from the city's Committees for Culture and Education.

Applications will be accepted from 1 March to 1 July. A selection round will then run from 1 May to 1 August. All finalists will receive diplomas and prizes, with their productions staged at top St. Petersburg venues.

Judges include well-known figures like Fyodor Bondarchuk, Sergei Selyanov and Oksana Akinshina. They assess entries based on originality, emotional impact, technical skill and commercial potential. Theater groups of all genres are welcome to apply. The festival's final event will take place in autumn, offering young performers a platform to showcase their talent. Those selected will gain exposure to industry professionals and the opportunity to perform in prestigious venues. The deadline for submissions is 1 July.
