The children are playing a variety of instruments, including violins, cellos, and flutes, and appear to be having a great time.

Young Musicians Shine at Sixth Vyacheslav Kruglov Folk Competition

The sixth annual Vyacheslav Kruglov Competition recently took place in Nizhny Novgorod. Nearly 200 young musicians gathered at Children's School of the Arts No. 1 to showcase their skills on the domra and mandolin. The event featured performances, master classes, and awards over three days.

The competition welcomed participants as young as seven years old. Musicians travelled from Russia, Belarus, Tatarstan, and Abkhazia to take part. Renowned educators led master classes, while a jury of experts judged the auditions.

Vyacheslav Kruglov, a People's Artist of Russia and president of the Academy of Folk Music, chaired the panel. Winners received diplomas, trophies, and cash prizes. Top orchestral ensembles were also recognised for their performances. One standout performer from School of the Arts No. 1 earned a scholarship from the New Names Charitable Foundation. The event highlighted both individual talent and group achievements in folk music.

The competition concluded with awards for the most skilled young musicians. The scholarship and prizes aim to support their continued development in domra and mandolin performance. Organisers plan to host the event again next year.
