Young cyclist perishes in accident involving a truck in Cork city
In a tragic incident, a cyclist in her mid-20s lost her life following a collision in Cork city yesterday evening. The accident occurred at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road around 6.15pm.
The victim, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, was from Japan. Her body was taken to the morgue at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
No other injuries were reported at the scene of the collision. The road at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road is currently closed for a forensic technical examination by gardaí. Diversions are in place due to the road closure.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the incident. Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 6.00pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 18 September are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
