Young Boys and Lugano split points in tense Super League draw

BSC Young Boys and FC Lugano shared the points in a 1:1 draw during the 2025/2026 Super League season. Both sides created opportunities, but neither could secure a winner. The result leaves Young Boys sixth in the table, still chasing the top three.

Young Boys started strongly, with Alvyn Sanches firing them ahead after just five minutes. Lugano nearly responded instantly, but their best chance was squandered. Before halftime, the hosts tested Lugano's keeper with a long-range strike, only to be denied.

The second half saw Lugano level the score from the penalty spot, Grgić converting coolly. Despite pushing for a late winner, neither team could break through again. Young Boys now sit on 36 points after 25 games, with 10 wins, six draws, and nine losses.

Their struggles against higher-ranked opponents continue, having failed to win against any top-half side since November 9th. Next up, they travel to Basel for a crucial match, needing points to climb the table.

The draw keeps Young Boys six points adrift of third-placed FC Basel. Their inconsistent form against stronger teams remains a hurdle. Meanwhile, Lugano's point helps their own push for a better league position.
