**Yograj Singh Hails Shubman Gill's Record-Breaking 269 but Laments His Dismissal**

Yograj Singh, the father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has praised Shubman Gill's magnificent 269-run innings in the second Test against England at Edgbaston, but expressed his disappointment with Gill's dismissal before he could reach a triple century.

Gill's knock gave India a dominant grip on the match, with the team amassing a first-innings total of 587. However, his dismissal at 269 left many, including Yograj Singh, feeling a sense of frustration.

"It was a crime to see such a brilliant innings come to an end just short of a triple century," Yograj Singh said, emphasising the importance of Gill's performance. He further stated that Gill has the potential to score even more runs, such as 300, 400, or even 500, in future innings.

Yograj Singh credited the influence of his son, Yuvraj Singh, and head coach Gautam Gambhir on Gill’s batting and development. He praised their coaching and felt Gill’s performance should inspire others, even comparing it to legendary feats like Brian Lara’s 500 runs.

England, struggling at 77 for 3 by stumps on Day 2, are now at 249/5 by lunch on Day 3, with Jamie Smith scoring a counter-attacking hundred and Harry Brook close to a hundred. Despite Gill's dismissal, India remains in a strong position, thanks to his impressive performance and the rest of the team's contribution.

"Yograj Singh's comments echoed the sentiment of many, as he lamented that Gill's football-like performance, with its potential for continued dominance on the field, was cut short by his dismissal before he could score a triple century in the football-like arena of cricket."

"With Yograj Singh displaying faith in Gill's abilities to surpass even the legendary scores of batsmen like Brian Lara, the sports world eagerly awaits future innings that could potentially see Gill score 300, 400, or even 500 runs, further cementing his reputation in sports history."
