Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign: A Nation United in Patriotism
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, a grassroots initiative in India, is transforming into a mass movement as over 5 lakh young people have registered for the fourth year of the campaign. Launched in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the campaign aims to instil patriotism, civic pride, and awareness about the flag's significance, making the Tiranga a daily and personal emblem for every Indian household.
The campaign is a living symbol of our democracy and independence, uniting 1.4 billion Indians under the timeless colours of the National Flag. It is a country-wide initiative that started under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
State leaders across India take part by endorsing the campaign, facilitating flag distribution, especially in underserved areas, and participating in flag hoisting and public events. They often recognize the contributions of volunteers and Women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs) during state Independence Day celebrations, promoting the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as a people’s movement that imbues the national flag with renewed meaning and pride.
In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hoisted the tricolour at his residence and wrote a message on Twitter. Uttar Pradesh uses funds from its State Finance Commission to distribute 60 lakh flags free in urban poor communities, made by SHGs, thus also promoting local economies.
Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hoisted the flag in Gandhinagar, while Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hoisted the tricolour at his residence in Chandigarh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with his wife Sonal Shah, hoisted the flag at their residence in Delhi's Krishna Menon Marg.
The Ministry of Culture coordinates with multiple ministries, states, union territories, and community groups, ensuring widespread participation. Women-led SHGs have become key players in producing and distributing flags, empowering thousands of women and ensuring local involvement and employment generation.
This year, more than 5 lakh youths have registered as volunteers for the Tiranga campaign, according to Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The 4th edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was announced by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India on August 11.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is not just a campaign, but an emotional movement that unites the nation, strengthening the country with the thread of unity and boosting national sentiment. It is a testament to the strength of the armed forces of the country and a celebration of our democracy and independence. As the nation gears up for the Independence Day celebrations, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign continues to inspire and unite Indians in their love for the Tiranga.
