Russian mixed martial artist Alexander Emelianenko and Zhenya Ershov are set to square off in the upcoming "Fight Club" tournament on Ren-TV, scheduled for May 26th.

Emelianenko, a heavyweight contender with a notable career in MMA and combat sambo, has been a force to be reckoned with since his professional debut in 2003. Known for his powerful striking, quick knockout victories, and significant titles in sambo, Emelianenko has left an indelible mark in the world of MMA.

Some of his most memorable achievements include three consecutive victories early in his PRIDE Bushido career, an 11-second KO against James Thompson, and a 15-second KO of Ricardo Morais. He's also claimed multiple World Combat Sambo Championships gold medals and a silver medal at the 2010 GAISF World Combat Games.

As for Ershov, he is a blogger and a fighter, making his mark in the "Fight Club" tournament. In a recent joint interview, Ershov used the "Phoenix" expression as a slight jab at Emelianenko, the exact meaning of which remains unclear.

Emelianenko's preparation for the bout has been the subject of some speculation. His frequent "romantic escapades" and stubbornness have raised questions about his focus and willingness to listen to advice, potentially affecting his performance. However, Emelianenko has been vocal about his training methods, often speaking about his practice of standing on a punching bag for an hour during training.

Despite his impressive career, Emelianenko's recent performances have not been as dominant as they once were, leaving some observers to wonder if he may be heading towards a fate similar to a forgotten warrior.

The "Fight Club" tournament on Ren-TV is a new stage for Emelianenko to demonstrate his skills and experience. Whether the "Phoenix" expression will prove to be a meaningful factor in the bout remains to be seen.
