Yemen's primary airport undergoes airstrike by Israel, targeted at Houthis militant group.

In a fiery display of escalating tension, Israel's military viciously attacked Sanaa International Airport in Yemen, claiming it was a central hub for the Houthi terrorist regime's weapon and operative transfers. The offensive, a retaliation for a missile landing near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, left three unfortunate casualties, according to Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.

Witnesses in Sanaa reported four explosive strikes, following a warning from the Israeli military to vacate the airport area. In a statement, the military declared, "Our IDF fighter jets struck and dismantled Houthi terrorist infrastructure at the main airport in Sanaa, effectively disabling the airport."

Airport sources confirmed that the strikes targeted several civilian airplanes, the departures hall, the airport runway, and a nearby military airbase under Houthi control. Al-Masirah, the Houthi media outlet, responded with a statement, pledging continuous armed force operations and unwavering support for Palestine in response to the Israeli aggressions.

Tensions have been boiling since the Gaza war erupted, reaching new heights when a Houthi missile landed near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. This violent act prompted Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s Hodeidah port the day before.

Houthis, known to fire at Israel and shipping in the Red Sea, assert that their actions are inspired by Palestinian solidarity. They've cemented their position as part of Iran's "Axis of Resistance" against Israeli and U.S. interests in the Middle East, alongside Hamas and Hezbollah. Despite Israel's attempts to weaken these groups with assassinations and infrastructure demolition, the Houthis remain a formidable presence.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had promised retaliation following the Houthi-led missile attack near Ben Gurion Airport, which led to cancellations of European and U.S. flights. Unfortunate civilian casualties resulting from the Israeli strikes around Hodeidah have further aggravated the already volatile situation.
