Yekaterinburg launches massive spring cleanup as snow melts citywide
Yekaterinburg's public utilities have begun a large-scale clean-up as winter snow melts across the city. Crews are now removing household waste from snowbanks and clearing debris from streets after a long cold season. Overnight, workers shifted 6,500 tons of snow to designated landfills. Alongside this, 1.5 tons of rubbish were collected from melting snow piles along roads and pavements.
Each of the city's districts currently has one or two cleaning machines in use. Vacuum and high-pressure washing equipment are also being deployed to tackle dirt and grime on surfaces. Officials have confirmed that more specialised machinery will join the effort once temperatures remain consistently above freezing. The operation aims to restore cleanliness after months of heavy snowfall. Teams are focusing on both major roads and residential areas to speed up the process.
The clean-up will expand as weather conditions stabilise. Additional equipment will help clear remaining waste and improve road safety. Residents can expect further progress in the coming days as temperatures rise.
