Yekaterinburg Grinds to a Halt After Record Snow Storm Hits
The city experienced abnormally high temperatures in October and November, with averages reaching 4–9°C above normal. This made 2025 the first year in a decade with little to no temporary snow cover during early winter. The mild spell ended abruptly as snow began falling heavily over the weekend, causing a storm.
The snow storm has paralysed movement across Yekaterinburg, with multiple collisions and impassable roads. Recovery efforts are underway, but freezing temperatures will complicate operations. Authorities continue to urge caution as the city adjusts to the sudden winter storm.
