Yekaterinburg adjusts transport fares with mixed price shifts for riders
Yekaterinburg has seen a mix of fare changes and discounts in its public transport system. While the cost of a single ride has increased, several passes have become more affordable. Children and certain concessionary groups also benefit from new or extended offers.
The price of a single ride in Yekaterinburg has risen to 42 rubles, up from 33 rubles. However, a QR-code discount keeps the fare at 33 rubles until the end of the year. For students, the unlimited monthly pass has been reduced to 1,200 rubles from 1,700 rubles. Veterans, disabled, and military personnel also see a decrease in their unlimited pass for three transport types, now 900 rubles instead of 1,000 rubles. The concessionary fare for a single ride remains at 24 rubles.
Fixed-trip passes are no longer sold, but existing ones remain valid. The unlimited monthly pass for individuals has been cut to 1,500 rubles from 2,500 rubles. For veterans, disabled, and military with passes covering four transport types, the fare has decreased to 500 rubles from 550 rubles. Children travel free on ground transport, and the monthly metro pass costs 200 rubles. Corporate monthly passes have also been reduced to 2,000 rubles from 2,600 rubles.
Yekaterinburg's transport fare changes aim to balance increased single ride costs with discounts on monthly passes for students, concessionary groups, and individuals. Children and corporations also benefit from free and reduced fares. The QR-code discount extension offers a temporary respite for single ride users.
