In the city of Aurich, the annual general meeting of the fire department took place last Friday, with Chief Fire Officer Harald Cornelius presenting the annual report. The report detailed 28 deployments in 2024, including four fire safety watches, 20 assistance operations, two fire deployments, and two false alarms.

Deputy Mayor Artur Mannott presented a gift to Helmut Rieger on behalf of the city, in recognition of his dedicated service. Rieger, who was transferred to the honorary department, was given a small thank-you gift by Chief Fire Officer Cornelius. Brand Protection Section Leader South Karl Toepfer presented a special award to Rieger for his 50 years of service in the voluntary fire department.

Steffen Remmers was promoted to the rank of senior firefighter by Chief Fire Officer Cornelius. Two new members were welcomed to the operational department, one from the youth fire department and another as a transfer.

The multi-hour support during the heavy rain event in Aurich's city center in August was a notable deployment. Gerhard Wulff, the mayor of Wiesens/Brockzetel, also addressed the fire department members. City Fire Chief Heinz Hollwedel also reviewed the events of the ten Aurich fire departments in the past year.

Section Leader Karl Toepfer conveyed greetings from the county fire department and reported on news at the county level. The representatives of the military bases praised the excellent cooperation with the Brockzetel local fire department and emphasized its importance.

Chief Fire Officer Harald Cornelius invited all attendees to a shared meal. Silke Post, Jens Flick, Wolfgang Foerster, Wilfried Remmers, Joerg Kulke, Dieter Olcherts, Steffen Remmers, Peter Nikolaus, Detlef Makoscheit, Bernd Foerster, and Paul Kulke were elected in the local command.
