A 29-year-old woman in Yakutsk has been placed under house arrest for defrauding 14 citizens in a real estate scam. The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, posed as a realtor and exploited her client base and work groups to send fake apartment sale ads.

The suspect, who was previously a realtor but was fired at the beginning of last year, advertised already sold apartments and asked for deposits. She then delayed sales and stopped communication, causing significant financial losses. The total damages amounted to over 4.3 million rubles, which the suspect used to pay off credit debts and other debts.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which deals with fraud. The suspect's use of her former client base and work groups to commit the fraud has raised concerns about the security of personal data and the need for better protections against such crimes.

The 29-year-old suspect remains under house arrest as the investigation into the real estate fraud continues.
