Yakutsk-Lower Bestyakh Ice Road Opens Early, Connecting Region Safely

The ice road 'Yakutsk - Lower Bestyakh' on the federal highway R-504 'Kolyma' has opened early, on December 31, 2023. Stretching 12 km across the Lena River, it's a crucial winter link for the region.

The ice road, maintained by the Ministry of Transport of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), is equipped with road signs and information boards for safe navigation. It's designed to handle vehicles up to 4 tons, with road services on duty 24/7 at its entrances. The road has been prepared with approaches from both sides of the river, main lanes for traffic in both directions, and reserve lanes for added safety.

FКУ Упрдор 'Vilyui' advises drivers to adhere to the weight limit and follow road signs to preserve the ice road and ensure safety.

The 12 km ice road is now open, connecting Yakutsk and Lower Bestyakh. With proper maintenance and adherence to safety guidelines, it will serve the region well throughout the winter.
