Yakutsk Bus Fares to Rise as Mayor Seeks to Boost Transparency
Yakutsk Mayor Evgeny Grigoryev has announced a bus fare increase, citing rising fuel and spare parts prices. The change aims to encourage the use of transport cards and improve business transparency for private transportation operators.
The proposed cash fare hike will see prices rise from 35 to 50 rubles, while transport card fares will remain around 23 rubles. Mayor Grigoryev stated that the increase is necessary to help private operators update their equipment and make the business more transparent.
The fare increase was initially announced to take effect on November 1, with a planned rise from 35 to 40 rubles. However, the mayor later clarified that the increase will not happen during the winter season. The extent of the fare increase remains under discussion.
Yakutsk residents can expect a bus fare increase in the near future, with the exact details yet to be finalised. The mayor's office has stated that the change is intended to support private operators and encourage the use of transport cards.
