Yakutsk battles rising meltwater with massive pumping operation

Yakutsk battles rising meltwater with massive pumping operation

YAKUTIA.INFO. Large-scale pumping of meltwater from Yakutsk's road network continues, the city administration's press service reports.

As of April 12, the municipal enterprise Zhilkomservis has pumped out over 949 cubic meters of meltwater. Since the start of the season on March 24, the company has removed more than 6,990 cubic meters in total.

Fifteen vehicles are currently deployed for the effort, five of which were provided by contracted organizations. Earlier, city hall had reported using ten vehicles. Additionally, district and suburban administrations have pumped over 1,870 cubic meters since March 27, including more than 240 cubic meters on April 12 alone.

The total volume of meltwater removed to date exceeds 8,870 cubic meters. City authorities note that as workloads increase, more equipment will be brought in.
