Yakutia's Soil Use Forum to Discuss Licensing Reforms, Environmental Protection

Yakutia is set to host the First East Siberian Soil Use Forum, with a closed meeting organised by Rosnedra to discuss EPA compliance for subsoil users. The event will delve into crucial topics such as social agreements for environmental conservation and interaction with indigenous communities.

Minister of Industry and Geology Maxim Tereщенko revealed that the forum will explore the potential reinstatement of the two-key principle for issuing environmental licenses. This principle, if implemented, could significantly enhance the licensing process. The forum will also discuss the possibility of reinstating Yakutia's right to recall licenses from dishonest companies, a move long advocated by environmental activists.

Scheduled to participate are public organisations, industry representatives, regional government bodies, environmental agencies, and major mining and agricultural companies from Yakutsk. The forum aims to foster a productive dialogue among these stakeholders.

The First East Siberian Soil Use Forum in Yakutsk promises to be a pivotal event, with its discussions on licensing principles and environmental protection set to shape the region's subsoil use policies. The involvement of diverse stakeholders signals a commitment to balanced and responsible decision-making in Siberia's environment.
