Yakutia's Leader Discusses the Flood Condition in Oymyakon
In the coldest inhabited region of the world, Yakutia, the authorities are currently dealing with a significant flood situation. Just over a month ago, water levels in Oymyakon reached an alarming 580 centimeters due to heavy rain, as confirmed by Aisen Nikolaev, the Head of Yakutia.
The flood has caused extensive damage, with the federal road being washed out in several places in the Magadan region. However, there's some good news on the Kolyma road front, as reverse traffic has been restored in parts of the republic.
In an effort to aid those affected by the flood, a plane carrying rescuers, led by the First Deputy Minister of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations, Aylal Venzel, has taken off for Ust-Nera. The Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched to Ust-Nera on the orders of Aisen Nikolaev to provide assistance there.
Meteorologists are assuring us that today is the day when water levels will start to decrease. Aisen Nikolaev also stated that currently, they are not expecting to reach such levels as the ones experienced a month ago.
The rescuers are on their way to provide assistance on the ground, offering a glimmer of hope for the people of Ust-Nera. The situation remains challenging, but with the emergency services working tirelessly, there is a sense of optimism in the air.
As the situation develops, updates will be provided to keep the public informed. The people of Yakutia and Ust-Nera are resilient, and with the help of the emergency services, they will undoubtedly overcome this challenging time.
