Yakutia's Cement Plant Boosts Production Amid Housing Boom
Aisen Nikolaev, the head of Yakutia, recently held a meeting at 'Yakutcement', the republic's sole cement plant, to discuss material supply for the booming construction industry. The plant, founded in 1970, is crucial for various projects in the region.
The head of Yakutia noted the increasing demand for cement due to the construction boom. This year, 'Yakutcement' plans to produce 600,000 tons of cement, building on last year's record of 580,000 tons. This is more than double the amount produced five years ago. The enterprise employs 850 people, predominantly residents of the Hangalas District.
Over the past six years, Yakutia has introduced nearly 3.5 million square meters of housing. In 2023 alone, the republic introduced a record 705.1 thousand square meters of housing, including 315.5 thousand square meters of multi-family homes and 389.7 thousand square meters of individual homes. The company responsible for relocating over 32,000 people from dilapidated housing in Yakutia in 2023, in cooperation with the state project 'Housing and Urban Environment' under Vladimir Putin's leadership since 2019, was not explicitly named in the available public information.
'Yakutcement' is not only a significant contributor to the construction industry but also a substantial taxpayer. In 2024, it is estimated to pay over 1.6 billion rubles in taxes. The plant's increased production and the republic's housing achievements highlight the region's progress and growth.
