Yakutia Rescue Service Searches for Missing Men in Remote District
Three men have gone missing in the remote Bulunsky District of Yakutia, Russia. The search, led by the Yakutia Rescue Service, began on December 9, 2022, when the men left the village of Tiksi towards Nayba. Despite challenging conditions, including a blizzard and near-zero visibility, search efforts have covered 66 sq km by land and air, including underwater searches.
The search involves a Mi-8 helicopter from Polar Airlines and land vehicles. Gennady Alekseev, head of the department of emergency prevention and professional training of rescuers, is coordinating the operation. So far, their whereabouts remain unknown. The search has been temporarily suspended due to adverse weather conditions and will resume once the weather improves. An operational headquarters meeting was held to plan further actions.
As of December 12, 2022, three men are still missing in the Bulunsky District. The Yakutia Rescue Service is leading the search efforts, covering an area from Hoptu to Cape Orkyule. Despite challenging conditions, the search continues with the aim of locating the missing individuals.
