Yakutia Parliament Proposes Hunting Law Amendment for Protected Territories
A bill has been introduced to the Yakutia Parliament to amend the hunting law concerning specially protected natural territories. The proposal aims to entrust the organization of hunting to a nature conservation institution, increasing control over the activity.
Currently, the republican law does not regulate hunting on these territories. The bill proposes to allow hunting on these territories if it does not contradict their purposes and tasks. The proposed institution to organize hunting in these areas is the regional government or relevant regional authorities.
Permitted hunting types include amateur, sports, scientific, educational, regulation, acclimatization, relocation, hybridization, maintenance, breeding, and traditional way of life hunting. Permits for hunting on these territories will be issued following the procedure approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia.
If adopted, the law will come into force ten days after its official publication. The bill seeks to balance conservation efforts with controlled hunting activities, ensuring the territories' purposes are not compromised.
