Luck hasn't been on the side of rapper Xatar, real name Giwar Hajabi, as he tragically left us at the tender age of 43. The news broke earlier today after a Cologne apartment search tragically proved futile in finding a pulse. The cause of death has yet to be disclosed.

Cologne's Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the death, looking for signs of any "criminally relevant external influence" that may have tainted the unfortunate incident. They have also reported no external signs of violence, though an autopsy has been conducted as part of the ongoing investigation[1].

Rapper Xatar hails from Kurdish parents and was born in Iran before making his way to Germany. He gained a sizable following in Bonn, eventually establishing the Alles oder Nix Records label in 2008. Its roster saw big names like SSIO and Schwesta Ewa join its ranks[2].

Many of us remember Xatar as being one of Germany's most popular gangsta rappers. Notoriety fell upon him in 2009 due to a thievery that saw him and accomplices make off with gold worth a whopping 1.7 million euros[3]. A long stint behind bars was on the horizon, but as fate would have it, it boosted his music career, helping establish him in the scene.

He recorded his hit album "Nr 415," named after his prison cell, in JVA Rheinbach. His 2015 album "Baba aller Babas" even claimed the number one spot on the German charts[3]. Xatar also dabbled in business ventures, making a name for himself in the jewelry trade, the doner kebab industry, and owning a shisha bar. His ambitious project "Goldmann Tower" in Cologne aimed to be the epicenter of his Goldmann Music label, although the company ultimately filed for insolvency in 2023[4].

Rumors of Xatar's health struggles have been rampant as of late. In 2021, he reportedly suffered a near-death experience and opted to take a day off each week to focus on recovering[4]. Xatar's former manager, Marina Buzunashvilli, paid her respects via an Instagram post, while fellow rappers Haftbefehl and Farid Bang also shared their condolences[4].
