The Mystery Surrounding the Demise of Gangster-Rapper Xatar

Xatar, the notorious figure in the realm of gangster rap, has met his demise.

Get the latest on Xatar’s shocking death, as the renowned rapper, known for his turbulent past and successful career, is found lifeless in his Cologne apartment.

In a surprising turn of events, the celebrated rap artist, whose birth name was Giwar Hajabi, was discovered deceased in his Cologne dwelling on a chilling Thursday evening, according to a spokesperson from the Cologne Public Prosecutor’s Office. The specific cause behind this tragic loss is yet to be determined.

In the wake of Xatar's untimely demise, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an inquest, inspecting for any indications of "potentially criminal external influences" that may have led to the rapper's departure from the world. An autopsy was also carried out, yet no evidence of external violence was detected. The investigation remains ongoing.

Xatar was born in 1981 as the child of a distinguished composer and conductor and a musician from Iran. His family escaped to Iraq in the 1980s and eventually settled in Bonn. Xatar grew up there and later resided in Cologne. His music career took flight when he founded the label Alles oder Nix Records in 2008. The label swiftly gained traction in the rap scene and featured artists such as SSIO and Schwesta Ewa[2].

Gangsta-Rap Beyond Stereotypes

Xatar soared to national attention in 2009 when he, alongside accomplices, executed a daring heist on a money transporter, resulting in the theft of gold valued at a staggering 1.7 million euros. In 2011, he was convicted to eight years' imprisonment. The ill-gotten loot remains untraced[3].

Xatar's stint in prison only served to enhance his notoriety as a rapper. His album "Nr 415", named after his prison cell, was produced within the confines of Rheinbach prison. After serving part of his sentence early, the rapper released his 2015 album "Baba aller Babas" that reached the summit of the German charts.

Outside the limelight of music, Xatar was an entrepreneur. He nurtured success in the jewelry industry, owned a doner kebab establishment, and a shisha bar. In 2022, Xatar founded the "Goldmann Tower" in Cologne, the critical hub of his new music label Goldmann Music. Sadly, the company filed for bankruptcy in 2023. "Rheingold", a film directed by Fatih Akin, explores Hajabi's life story.

Recently, the magazine "Rolling Stone" reported on Xatar's health struggles. In 2021, the entertainer was said to have experienced a health scare, pledging to take one day off each week from then on. He also shared that he had lost a significant 50 kilograms upon his doctor's advice due to concerns about his overall health[4].

Numerous fellow musicians, including Marina Buzunashvilli, Haftbefehl, and Farid Bang, paid tribute to Xatar following his passing, expressing their deep sadness and feelings of loss.
