Tragic Loss: Gangster-Rapper Xatar Passes Away at 43
Xatar, notorious gangster rapper, has passed away.
Previously known for his turbulent life and thriving career in German hip-hop, rapper Xatar, born Giwar Hajabi, is no more. The news of his demise, which occurred on Thursday evening in a Cologne apartment, was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office, but the cause of his death remains a mystery.
Colleagues in the rap community, mourning this unfortunate loss, have left heartfelt tributes on social media platforms.
Born in Iran in 1981, Hajabi and his family faced hardships, fleeing to Iraq during the 1980s before eventually settling in Bonn. Growing up in Cologne, Xatar established himself as a force in the German rap scene when he founded "Alles oder Nix Records" in 2008, which significantly contributed to the rise of artists like SSIO and Schwesta Ewa.
Xatar's notoriety skyrocketed in 2009 when he participated in a gold heist, leading to an eight-year prison sentence in 2011. Despite the loot remaining undiscovered, this period of his life enhanced his street cred in the rap community. During his incarceration, he recorded the album "Nr 415" from his cell in JVA Rheinbach, an effort that topped the German charts upon release in 2014.
In the latter part of his life, Xatar delved into the business side of the music industry, founding the "Goldmann Tower" in Cologne for his international label Goldmann Music in 2022. However, the label filed for insolvency the same year. The film "Rheingold," based on his life story, was also released in 2022.
Speculation about Xatar's potential health issues in recent times is mere conjecture, as no official sources have commented on the matter. His life was a testament to transformation and resilience, marked by his incredible journey from adversity to triumph in the German music industry.
