Rap Legend Xatar Unexplainably Passes Away at 43
Xatar, Famed Gangster Rapper, Passes Away
Take a moment to remember the impactful life of rapper Xatar, who tragically passed away at the tender age of 43. Official reports are still scarce on the cause of his demise.
The Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation, scrutinizing the possibility of any "criminal external influence" connected to Xatar's death. Unfortunately, the autopsy findings unveiled no indicators of physical trauma. Investigations are currently conducting a thorough examination.
Born in 1981 to celebrated composer and conductor, as well as a renowned musician in Iran, the young Xatar and his family fled to Iraq during the 80s before settling in Bonn. He flourished there, eventually moving to Cologne, where he founded the successful record label Alles oder Nix Records. This label quickly climbed the ranks in the German rap scene, nurturing artists like SSIO and Schwesta Ewa.
The Criminal Turn to Stardom
Xatar rose to national prominence in 2009 after orchestrating a gold heist with accomplices, netting 1.7 million euros. Subsequent legal action in 2011 resulted in an eight-year prison sentence, elusive returns of the stolen loot to this day. Incarceration fortified his status as a rapper, enhancing the sales of his albums such as "Nr 415" recorded during his time in Rheinbach prison, and "Baba aller Babas" that reached the top spot on the German charts in 2015.
The multifaceted entrepreneur ventured into the jewelry business, owned a doner kebab shop, and a shisha bar. In 2022, Xatar established the "Goldmann Tower," the centerpiece of his new music label Goldmann Music. Despite his success, the company faced financial difficulties and filed for insolvency in 2023. The film "Rheingold" by director Fatih Akin provides an account of his life story.
Reports suggest that Xatar had been grappling with health issues in recent times. In 2021, he endured a severe health scare and announced that he would take a weekly break. Xatar further revealed his struggles with weight loss after his doctor warned him of pending health complications.
Taking to social media, Xatar's former promoter Marina Buzunashvilli shared a poignant message on Instagram: "Until we meet again." Fellow rappers Haftbefehl and Farid Bang recognized his demise, sending condolences and fondly reminiscing about their shared memories.
