Wyoming Politician Hails from Gillette as He Announces Run for State Governorship
Eric Barlow Announces Run for Wyoming Governor
Eric Barlow, a seasoned Republican politician and current Wyoming State Senator representing Campbell County, has officially announced his candidacy for Governor of Wyoming in the 2026 election.
Born and raised on a family ranch southwest of Gillette, Barlow has spent his life in service to others, serving as a U.S. Marine, a veterinarian, a rancher, and a legislative leader. He served as Speaker of the House in the Wyoming Legislature from 2021 to 2023.
Barlow's campaign strategy is rooted in his connection to Wyoming's working-class roots and his experience as a pragmatic leader. He aims to create greater opportunities for future generations, grounding his campaign in Wyoming’s values of hard work and independence.
Key Issues in Barlow's Campaign
Barlow's campaign focuses on strong leadership, Wyoming values, and protecting the future of Wyoming. He promises to protect private property rights, safeguard public lands, and keep Washington, D.C. out of Wyoming's business.
Key issues in his campaign include promoting energy independence for Wyoming, reducing property taxes, improving access to healthcare, defending local control and private property rights, protecting Second Amendment rights and the sanctity of life, and safeguarding public lands and opposing federal interference in state matters.
Campaign Positioning
Barlow emphasizes his conservative principles and experience as a pragmatic leader who "gets the job done." However, he has faced criticism from some conservative factions, such as the Wyoming Freedom Caucus chair, for not being "conservative enough," accusing him of supporting bigger government and policies contrary to strict conservative principles.
Community Engagement
Barlow's campaign will focus on meeting voters where they are, at kitchen tables, county fairs, and community gatherings. For more information, visit www.BarlowForWyo.com or follow the campaign on social media @BarlowForWyo.
The announcement was made in Wright, and Barlow is starting his campaign early to build a strong grassroots coalition and raise the necessary resources to run a successful campaign. As he embarks on this journey, Barlow expressed his love for Wyoming and its people, promising to protect the state's interests and continue to reflect the values he has always brought to leadership, such as standing firmly on sound, conservative principles and defending the Second Amendment and sanctity of life.
