WynnBet seeks approval for mobile sports betting license in Illinois

In the bustling Illinois sports betting market, WynnBET, a popular mobile sports wagering operator, has yet to announce a partnership for its Illinois operations. The Illinois Gaming Board requires mobile sports betting operators to partner with a licensed casino or tribe, which then holds the license and partners with the sportsbook/mobile wagering operator.

Given WynnBET's typical strategy in other states, potential partners could include Illinois's licensed casinos or tribes. Notable casinos and tribes licensed for sports betting and online gaming in Illinois include Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, Argosy Casino Alton, Hawthorne Race Course, and various tribal casinos.

However, as of the latest information in 2025, there is no explicit public announcement of WynnBET’s current Illinois mobile wagering partner. WynnBET's historical model involves partnering with tribes or casinos holding the online gaming license, as seen in Michigan and Colorado.

Other potential partners in Illinois include Hard Rock, which opened its temporary casino last November, Danville's casino, scheduled to open in 2024 by Golden Nugget, and Walker's Bluff, a casino under construction in Williamson County.

It's worth noting that WynnBET has recently exited some other states, so their presence and partners in Illinois may be evolving or not yet publicly disclosed. To get the most current and specific Illinois partners for WynnBET, checking Illinois Gaming Board records or WynnBET press releases directly would be advisable.

Meanwhile, other operators in the Illinois market are making strides. BetMGM, despite not operating for the full month in Illinois, posted a handle of $43.6 million. Circa Sports, listed as an applicant for a Management Services Provider license in Illinois, submitted its paperwork and deposit for a license on May 16.

The Illinois sports betting market, with a low number of mobile operators currently at seven, is eagerly anticipating more announcements in the coming months. FanDuel and DraftKings account for nearly two-thirds of the state's overall handle since June 2020, leaving room for new entrants like WynnBET to make their mark.

Sports betting operators in Illinois, such as WynnBET, typically partner with licensed casinos or tribes to offer their mobile wagering services.
