WWE star allegedly causes multi-vehicle accident, facing charges for dangerous driving (UPDATE)
On July 24, 2025, former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) CEO Vince McMahon was involved in a three-car collision on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, Connecticut. The accident involved McMahon's 2024 Bentley, a 2023 BMW 430, and a Ford Fusion.
According to reports by TMZ and The New York Post, McMahon was driving his Bentley at a high speed and weaving through traffic before hitting the BMW driven by Barbara Doran, the founder of BD8 Capital Partners. The impact caused both cars to crash into a wooden guardrail, with debris from the crash flying into oncoming traffic and hitting the Ford Fusion.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all drivers involved were wearing seat belts with airbags deploying on impact. Doran, who is 72, described the incident on Facebook, stating that McMahon was speeding "80-90mph" and that her car was "totaled." She and her dog were mostly unharmed despite being "catapulted over 100 yards" off the road.
McMahon was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26, 2025. Photos published by TMZ showed significant damage to the front of McMahon’s Bentley and the rear of the BMW.
This incident adds to recent controversies surrounding McMahon, including his stepping down as WWE CEO in 2022 amid internal investigations and his 2023 resignation from TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, due to a federal lawsuit accusing him of serious sexual misconduct.
Hulk Hogan, a WWE legend and Hall of Famer, passed away at the age of 71 on the same day as the car accident. He was described as the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME and a trailblazer, being the first performer who transitioned from being a wrestling star into a global phenomenon.
Vince McMahon started as a wrestling commentator for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) before taking over the company from his father. He also helped launch the WWE Network and co-founded the XFL football league. McMahon's wife, Linda, currently serves as Education Secretary in President Donald Trump's administration. The couple reportedly separated in 2024.
In a statement, McMahon expressed his condolences for Hulk Hogan's death. No further statements have been made regarding the car accident.
