Wulffs Seperate Again After Previous Divorce: A Second Split for Christian and Bettina Wulff
In a confirmed court ruling on Tuesday, the marriage between former German President Christian Wulff and his wife Bettina Wulff came to an end after nearly two decades together. The divorce was finalized at the local court in Burgwedel, Hannover region, as reported by the "Hannoversche Allgemeinen Zeitung" (HAZ).
The couple, who were previously married in 2008, had experienced a turbulent relationship marked by reconciliations and separations over the years. Bettina Wulff, now 51 years old, described feeling torn in 2018, and the divorce was ultimately deemed inevitable.
Their first separation occurred in 2013, and they filed for divorce shortly after. However, the couple reconciled in 2015 and even had a church wedding. This reconciliation was followed by another civil ceremony in Hannover-Herrenhausen in March 2023. Yet, the third breakup occurred in April, leading to the final divorce.
Despite the confirmation of the divorce information, Christian Wulff's office declined to provide further details. Similarly, Bettina Wulff, who published a book titled "Different Than Expected: What I Learned About What Really Counts," declined to comment on the divorce when asked by HAZ.
The exact reasons for the divorces were not provided in the article. However, the description of their relationship as "turbulent" implies that the couple faced significant challenges before the eventual divorce.
It appears that Christian and Bettina Wulff remained married throughout until the final divorce, without formal prior divorces but potentially with periods of difficulty. The Burgwedel local court was closed on Wednesday, and no press statements were possible.
Christian Wulff, now 66 years old, has not commented publicly on the divorce. The couple's divorce marks the end of a significant chapter in German politics, as Christian Wulff served as the President of Germany from 2010 to 2012.
