Women's Euro Warsaw: Wellness Sanctuary, But Promising Performances Demanded

German National Coach Christian Warsaw has faith in his team at the European Championship without any stringent social media guidelines. With a chuckle, he spoke at a press conference in Herzogenaurach, drawing from training in the youth sector, "If we need to have a goddamn discussion with grown-ups about what they're allowed to do, it’s almost too late."

At age 52, Warsaw has plenty of experience with this topic. He's been a keen observer of the social media dynamics for the German U17 men's team, which he led to win both the Europa and World Championships in 2023. The Association is reportedly "busting a nut" to teach young players what they can expect on social media.

"Blokes gotta take responsibility"

Germany's girls are currently gearing up for the Euro, training in a camp before heading to Zurich on Monday. Their first Group game is against Poland in St. Gallen on Friday, with Denmark and Sweden as their other opponents.

Media Director Annette Seitz also spoke about the DFB's social media department keeping tabs on various platforms. "I reckon the players are being pretty damn sensible," she said, swiftly added that the team would discuss any potential shitstorms and hate comments that could arise, saying, "If we gotta chat about it, we will."

Family day post-matches at the hotel

Warsaw also trusts his players when it comes to access to the team hotel. "We plan to have families, mates, and partners join the base camp, always the day after the match," he explained, revealing that the idea came from the players themselves.

"To sum it up, we want a bloody haven. But of course, we need stellar performances from the players," Warsaw stated, cheekily, "I believe it's a quid pro quo. And so far, it's going great."

In the spirit of creating a nurturing environment for the Women's Team at the European Championship, Christian Warsaw, the National Coach, emphasized the importance of a "bloody haven" – a sanctuary for wellness and relaxation – while simultaneously underscoring the necessity of top performances on the field. Off-field activities might include vocational training, for instance football coaching or sports management, which could prove beneficial to the team's growth and cohesion.
