The West German Sports Club (WSV) secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Velbert in a thrilling league match held at the Stadion am Zoo on 6th August.

The game started hectically, with both teams showing their intent from the first whistle. However, it was the WSV who dominated the early exchanges, creating several opportunities but failing to convert them into goals.

In the 10th minute, a cross from Vincent Schaub found Daki Kamo, who headed it towards Jeff Fehr. Fehr's effort hit the post, and he missed the follow-up, denying the WSV a 1-0 lead.

Velbert started to play better midway through the first half, but the WSV's defence held firm, keeping the scoreline unchanged. The WSV fans, undeterred, started a choreo and supported their team after 13 minutes.

The first half ended without a goal, but the WSV had the last laugh in the added time of the first half. Celal Aydogan capitalised on a defensive error to score the opening goal, making it 1-0 for the home team.

The second half began with Velbert trying to mount a comeback, but the WSV's defence stood strong. The WSV doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Aydogan scored his second goal of the match, making it 2-0.

In the 72nd minute, Toskiaki Miyamoto was replaced by Ronay Arabaci. The WSV then sealed the victory in the 78th minute when Lennard Kleiner scored the third goal, making it 0-3.

Imas Sekaki and Henry Mertsch came on for Hartmann and Kamo in the 85th minute, as the WSV saw out the remaining minutes to secure a well-deserved 3-0 victory.

The WSV will play an away game against Borussia Dortmund U23 on 17th August, with the time yet to be confirmed. Before that, they will face TSV Krefeld Bockum in a cup game at the Stadion am Zoo on 13th August at 7:30 PM. The WSV will also play a friendly match against 1. FC Wülfrath on 5th August at 7:30 PM.

Hans-Juraj Hartmann, Daki Kamo, and Toskiaki Miyamoto received their playing permissions in time, but seven players were absent from the game: Subaru Nishimura, Muhammed Bejdic, Kadi Atmaca, Semir Saric, Dominic Duncan, Lennard Wagemann (all injured), and Alessio Arambasic (suspended).

Velbert presented Felix Herzenbruch, Beyhano Ametov, and Valon Zhushi. Herzenbruch, unfortunately, received a red card for taking the ball with his hand as the last man in the 40th minute.

The WSV will play SV Rödinghausen in league action on 9th August at the Stadion am Zoo at 2 PM.
