Ukraine Under Fire: A Shocking 48,600 Aerial Attacks by Russia since January, Warns Zelensky

Wake-up call from President Volodymyr Zelensky: Russia has unleashed a staggering 48,600 aerial attacks on Ukraine since the beginning of the year. That's right, you heard it correctly. Let's break it down for you.

Zelensky revealed this alarming news on a popular platform, including an eye-opening tally of over 27,700 aerial bombs, more than 20,000 drone attacks, and around 700 missiles[1]. And this is just since the turn of the year!

While Russian Kremlin leader, Vladimir Putin, shows no signs of slowing down, Zelensky is urging allies to step up the pressure on the aggressor. As he puts it, "If the big guys don't take a stand and put a stop to Putin, they're effectively complicit." Russia appears to be planning more attacks in response to recent assaults on Russian military aircraft[1].

In a nutshell, every delay in diplomacy and each new attack seems to be Russia giving us the middle finger - to those still dragging their feet on increasing pressure on Russia, according to Zelensky. However, it is Russia that should be longing for peace, Zelensky emphasizes, as military action incurs exorbitant costs, with the heaviest burden falling on the aggressor[1].

Zelensky's numbers aren't all verifiable, but they certainly paint a picture of the relentless Russian aggression. Going back to May, for example, Ukraine was targeted with close to 300 drone attacks and nearly 70 cruise missile and missile attacks in a single night[1].

So, what's the current situation? Well, Russian forces launched their largest swarm of attack drones since the invasion began, with a whopping 472 drones on the night of June 1[2]. Moreover, Russia conducted a series of intense attacks over May 24-26, involving more than 600 drones and dozens of missiles[2].

Ukrainian air defenses are working around the clock, successfully neutralizing a significant number of these attacks. Case in point, during an overnight assault, Ukrainian air defenses took out 406 targets, including the elimination or suppression of 199 drones[2].

What's Russia's secret weapon? Their drone production. According to recent reports, the production of the popular Shahed-type Gerans drone is ramping up to a whopping 70 units per day[2]. Expect Russia's aerial assault on Ukraine to intensify even further with this increased capability.

So, buckle up and stay tuned for more updates from the frontlines. The war in Ukraine continues, and the stakes keep getting higher.
