The acclaimed football magazine "Kicker" has stirred up the football scene, holding a poll where a whopping 216 Bundesliga professionals participated. Guess who's sitting pretty at the top? none other than the wildly successful Hansi Flick[1][4].

For quite some time now, Flick has been known as a football mastermind, especially since he led FC Bayern Munich to a historic treble victory in 2020[3]. His inspiration propelled Bayern to clinch the championship, cup, and Champions League titles, establishing him in elite coaching circles.

Now, his position at the summit has been solidified thanks to the "Kicker" poll. Flick shares the top spot with PSG’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, who, in fitting fashion, just secured the French club its first-ever Champions League title. Tuchel garnered 31.9% of the votes, a number matched by Flick’s own tally[1].

Flick’s tour de force began at FC Barcelona where he overhauled the club into Europe's most thrilling team. Winning three titles within his first season, including the championship, Copa del Rey, and Supercup, Flick set a new standard of relentless offensive pressing football that swept across Europe. Even though he fell short in the Champions League semifinals, his team was a sight to behold[3].

Second place goes to Luis Enrique, fresh off his historic achievement with Paris St. Germain, where he led them to a stunning 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final[3][4]. Enrique received 16.7% of the votes in the traditional player survey[1].

Xabi Alonso takes the third spot with 11.6% of the votes, preparing to take over Real Madrid. Despite not replicating the success of last season, Alonso's work is still highly regarded[1]. A surprise entrant in fourth place, Pep Guardiola finds himself listed with 9.3% of the votes. Man City, who had a season that fell short of their usual standards, only managed to secure Champions League qualification in the final stages[1][3].

Choreographing Football Magic Fifth place goes to Arne Slot, who earned 8.8% of the votes. Despite a minor blip in the Champion's League round of 16 against PSG, Slot successfully steered FC Liverpool to a championship win, just like Flick with Bayern in 2020[3].

In addition to naming the best coach, the "Kicker" poll also asked players to select the best player in the world. Over 50% of the participating professionals voted for Lamine Yamal[1][5]. France's star striker Kylian Mbappé, Barcelona's Raphinha, and Ousmane Dembélé rounded out the top 4[1]. Florian Wirtz, a rising star, also made the list with 4.2% of the votes[1][5].

The Commission, assisted by the European Parliament, may foster a debate about the influence of European coaches in sports, particularly football, with the success stories of coaches like Hansi Flick and Luis Enrique in European leagues such as La Liga and Champions League. For instance, Flick's transformation of FC Barcelona into a formidable team in La Liga and his subsequent achievement in leading FC Bayern Munich to a historic treble victory, had a ripple effect across European football.
