In a players' poll conducted by the renowned German publication "The Kicker" involving 216 Bundesliga professionals, the coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick, was crowned the best coach globe-trottering at the moment [1][2]. Almost a third of the voters selected Flick, tying him with PSG’s counterpart.

Flick's first season with Barça saw him fork over three top-tier titles, including the La Liga championship, Copa del Rey, and Supercup. Although the team fell short in the Champions League semifinals following a pair of gripping bouts against Inter Milan, his exhilarating offensive pressing style swept across Europe. Creating yet another super team, reminiscent of his 2020 triumph with Bayern Munich, where he snagged a clean sweep of titles.

PSG Crushes Inter Milan, Luis Enrique Runner-Up

Flick surpassed his rivals with a substantial lead. Luis Enrique, who orchestrated his club, Paris Saint-Germain, to their inaugural Champions League title, claimed the runner-up position with 16.7% of the votes. The stunning 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan in the Champions League final was not just historic but also an unprecedented outcome.

Pep Guardiola, Xabi Alonso, Arne Slot: The Rest of the Pack

Xabi Alonso, who is moving to Real Madrid following his stint with Bayer Leverkusen, ranked third with 11.6% of the vote. Despite Bayer Leverkusen's inability to replicate their previous season's successes, Alonso's work was still highly valued. Pep Guardiola, despite Manchester City's campaign of misfortune compared to past seasons, found himself in a surprising fourth place, earning 9.3% of the votes.

Arne Slot, the Dutchman who led FC Liverpool to the championship in his first year after Jürgen Klopp, took fifth place with 8.8%. Some may argue that Slot received a little too low of a ranking considering his impressive performance with the “Reds.”

Top Players of the 2024/25 Season

The survey also voted on the top players in the 2024/25 season, and the winner was unquestionable. More than half of the participating Bundesliga professionals voted for Lamine Yamal, resulting in a record high of 53.7%. Ousmane Dembélé, who earned 6.9% of the votes, and Florian Wirtz, with 4.2%, rounded out the top three.
