Time to Take a Seat, Boys: The US Steps Back as Ukraine and Russia Hash It Out

World mediation by the US in Ukraine-Russia conflicts is not anticipated, according to Washington's statement.

Alright, lemme spill the deets on what's going down in Ukraine. Seems like Washington's tired of playing the diplomatic Romeo and Juliet, and it's time for the warring parties to take the reins.

Ya see, the US State Department recently announced they're scaling back their mediator role, claiming they ain't gonna jump at the opportunity to broker peace talks like before. According to their spokesperson Tammy Bruce, it's now up to Kyiv and Moscow to work their sh*t out and come up with concrete plans to end this three-year-long war.

This shift comes after months of stalled negotiations and a whole lotta frustration from the Trump administration. In April, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hinted that Washington might move on if peace efforts didn't bear fruit soon. Guess that moment's arrived.

Trump himself showed his impatience in April, saying, "If one of the two parties makes it very difficult, we're just going to say: 'you're foolish, you're fools, you're horrible people,' and we're just going to take a pass." Vice President JD Vance echoed Trump's sentiments, saying the war ain't ending any time soon.

Feeling burnt out by the peace process? The US ain't alone. The US intensified its diplomatic efforts earlier this year, negotiating proposals for a 30-day ceasefire and partial truces targeted at stopping attacks on civilian energy infrastructure. They even held talks with Russian officials in Saudi Arabia. But, Moscow has stalled or refused all peace proposals, with Russian forces continuing to ramp up strikes across Ukraine.

A barrage of attacks on Kyiv in April left at least 12 civilians dead, prompting a rare rebuke from Trump. "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on Kyiv. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, stop! 5,000 soldiers a week are dying," he said on his Truth Social platform.

Kyiv has accepted US-backed ceasefire plans but keeps warning that Moscow's delayed progress is just a time-wasting tactic. But hey, if the Russians and Ukrainians want peace, it's on 'em now to bring it. Let's hope they ace it, or else these battles are gonna keep raging on and on.
