World Leader Zelenskyy expresses hope that President Trump can facilitate peace in Ukraine, positing that the 'free, democratic world' is eagerly anticipating such an outcome.
Blimey, it's another round of chat with ol' Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian bloke who's been in the thick of things since that full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. In a sit-down with Martha Raddatz from our website, Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine is raring to go for a ceasefire brokered by the Yanks, locking horns with ole Putin who, as he sees it, has his sights set on Ukraine's total annihilation.
Zelenskyy reckons it's only tough nose pressure from the US and its pals across Europe that'll turn Putin's thinking from battle Mode to pragmatism. "If they step up," Zelenskyy said, "then they'll stop the war."
But what's this? Last week saw the largest drone assault of the war on Ukraine, with Putin's crew launching 472 drones in a single night! Zelenskyy ain't impressed, shouting out that people need to wake up and realise the Ukrainians are under constant attack.
Talk about Operation 'Spiderweb' has been circulating, too. Zelenskyy's special services are said to have taken a major offensive action, striking Russian airfields as far as Siberia! The U.S. thinks only 10 planes were knocked out, but who knows what really went down, eh?
"We have to prepare such plans, and we're not stopping," Zelenskyy said, "because we don't know what tomorrow will bring. We might need more plans like this to make them stop."
Zelenskyy has been advocating for a ceasefire, left right and centre, without conditions if Russia will do the same. He reckons a security guarantee from the US isn't essential if Ukraine isn't invited to join NATO, and he'd accept a 30-day pause in the fighting.
Let's not forget that time when ol' Donald Trump scolded Zelenskyy, telling him he didn't hold the "cards" in peace settlement discussions. That didn't stick with Zelenskyy though, who described Putin as "a murderer who came to the playground to kill the kids." Harsh words, but practically put, don't cha think?
One thing's for sure, if anyone can push Putin to the negotiating table, it's the Yanks. And that, mates, is where we stand today. Here's hoping for a swift end to the fighting and peace for Ukraine.
