A Spectacular Debut at the World Dog Show 2025
The Kazakh Tazy made its sensational international debut at the World Dog Show 2025, marking a significant milestone as Kazakhstan’s national breed entered global competition for the first time. The breed immediately gained recognition, winning seven major championship awards and drawing attention from top judges, breeders, and dog experts worldwide.
The Kazakh Kennel Union showcased eight Tazy dogs at a national stand designed as a semi-yurt with traditional ornaments, blending cultural heritage with the breed’s presentation. This unique display attracted numerous visitors and inquiries about the breed’s history, training, and availability.
Recognition and Achievements

In May 2024, a monobreed exhibition for the Tazy was held in Astana, where the FCI commission examined 100 Tazy dogs. The Kazakh Tazy competed against 25,000 dogs from around the world, as an FCI-recognized independent breed.
At this exhibition, Kokserek was awarded the title of World Vice-Champion, and Pana - World Vice-Championess. Lasyn and Aru, also from Kazakhstan, were awarded the titles of Finnish Champions in their categories. However, the highlight of the event came when Lasyn became World Champion, and Aru - World Championess.
A Breed with a Rich History and Bright Future
The Kazakh Tazy is valued for its historical role as a versatile hunting sighthound, distinctive genetic makeup, and cultural importance. Genetic studies presented at the 2025 World Dog Show have highlighted its distinct lineage and health, sparking international interest among breeders and experts.
The work to preserve and promote the Tazy breed is under the patronage of the President of Kazakhstan's Affairs Office since August 2022. Full recognition of the Kazakh Tazy breed is expected no earlier than 2034.
