The German volleyball team's journey in the World Championships came to an end in the Philippines, following a close 1:3 (21:25, 25:17, 29:31, 22:25) defeat against Slovenia. Despite the loss, coach Michal Winiarski commended his team for playing their best game in the tournament.

Tobias Krick, the middle blocker, contributed points for the German team with quick attacks. The captain, Georg Grozer, was on the bench during the crucial moments of the match and could not prevent the loss. Grozer, who was the top German scorer in the first two games of the tournament, struggled to find his usual form throughout the event.

The German team had a total of five set balls but lost the third set, which went into extra points. The Slovenian team had a strong service run and took the lead, a lead that Germany was unable to overcome. Erik Rohrs, a teammate of Grozer, made a service error that sealed the defeat.

The DVV defense struggled to keep the ball in play during the match, and the team needed a win to advance to the round of 16, but they were unable to secure it. The German team faced a tough group in the World Championships, suffering a clear defeat against the rising Bulgarians and only managing to beat underdog Chile.

Despite the early exit, Grozer remains determined to continue striving for success. In a statement, he expressed that his future focus is to win as many medals, trophies, and championships as possible. Grozer's future participation in the team is uncertain following his substitution before the fourth set against Slovenia. The opposite hitter has plans to compete in the Chinese league for the upcoming season.

Coach Winiarski expressed that he cannot fault the players for the loss. The German team tied the score with six aces, fighting back to 17:17 in the fourth set but ultimately losing the set and the match. The loss marked the end of a challenging World Championships for the German volleyball team.
