The German basketball team has shown promising signs in their preparations for the upcoming EuroBasket 2025, securing a 103-89 victory over Slovenia in their first friendly match.

In the game, NBA talent Franz Wagner led the German team with 18 points, while fellow NBA player Dennis Schröder, who was absent due to personal reasons, is expected to return for the second duel with Slovenia in Mannheim on August 10.

Germany's roster boasts a blend of NBA stars and EuroLeague-level talent, giving them an edge in size, athleticism, and depth compared to some opponents. Despite missing key players such as Daniel Theis and Maodo Lo, who were injured, Germany's aggressive defense and dominance on the offensive glass were critical in their convincing win.

NBA pro Christian Anderson also made a spectacular debut, scoring his first points in his first international game with a daring dunk.

The game was not without its challenges, as the strict officiating did not benefit the overall flow of the game. However, Germany managed to keep the game under control, with Wagner playing for 17 minutes and 33 seconds before picking up his fifth foul and having to leave the court.

Despite these challenges, Germany is considered one of the medal favorites for the tournament, thanks to their talent depth and strong performance in their preparations. The team will continue their preparation with a second friendly match against Slovenia in Mannheim, aiming to build cohesion and test strategies ahead of the championship.

The European Championship will take place in Finland and Latvia from 27 August to 14 September. Germany's opening match in the tournament will be against Montenegro in Tampere, Finland.

With expectations high for Germany to perform well at EuroBasket 2025, they will look to continue their strong form and secure a place in the knockout round, which will take place in Riga, Latvia.

Sports enthusiasts will be eagerly waiting for the NBA stars Dennis Schröder and Christian Anderson as they return to their German team for the second friendly match against Slovenia. The prowess of basketball, particularly in the NBA, will undoubtedly be reflected in the EuroBasket 2025 tournament, as Germany aims to secure a medal with their well-balanced roster that boasts both NBA and EuroLeague talent.
