In a closely contested match, the German volleyball team suffered a disappointing defeat against Slovenia in the group stage of the World Championships. The final score was 1:3 (21:25, 25:17, 29:31, 22:25).

The German team started the match with quick attacks by middle blocker Tobias Krick, but the Slovenians quickly gained an advantage with a strong serve run. The German team coped with the serve pressure, tying the score with six aces.

However, the Slovenians were better in the crucial moments of the fourth set, and the German team fell behind 4:8. The team fought back to 17:17, but a block by the opposing team on the final hit by outside hitter Erik Roehrs resulted in the German team's loss.

The German team's performance in the World Championships was not satisfactory. They faced a tough group and only managed to beat outsiders Chile. The DVV selection had five set points in the match, but the team struggled to close it out.

The DVV defense also struggled to keep the ball in play during the match. Michal Winiarski, who had never trained another national team before becoming Bundestrainer of the German Volleyball National Team, urged his team to never stop believing in an interview.

Despite the loss, Winiarski remains optimistic about the future of the German team. The team was eliminated in the group stage of the World Championships, but the winner of the match in Pasay City advanced to the round of 16.

Grozer was substituted out due to not being at his usual level. The German team's fate in the World Championships is now decided, but the team will look to regroup and improve for future tournaments.
